Sylvester – Too Hot To Sleep

In an almost belated happy birthday post today, we say happy 66th and RIP to the Queen of Disco.  Sylvester was an institution in San Francisco over his illness shortened tenure of nearly 20 years.  I wanted to spotlight a couple of songs on one of his more overlooked solo albums, 1981’s Too Hot To Sleep.  One is a shambolic mid tempo percussive disco workout, “Give It Up (Don’t Make Me Wait)”, and the other is a delightfully mellow stepper track called “I Can’t Believe I’m In Love”.  Too Hot to Sleep was Sylvester’s final album for Fantasy Records before he moved to Patrick Cowley’s Megatone Records.

Part of the impetus for this post is the fact that, in SF, it is too goddamn hot to sleep!  Jeeesus its hot downtown.  Ech.  Enjoy the jams!
